In the absence of Jobs, the company’s control will be shifted to Tim Cook, Apple’s chief operating officer. Jobs has expressed his confidence in Cook and the Apple’s management for executing their plans for 2011.

In his email Jobs has requested for his family’s privacy along with his wish to return soon. In 2003, Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He underwent surgery and returned to work.

Jobs’ last medical leave, which lasted 6 months, made news in 2008, when he had a liver transplant. Jobs absence will surely raise a question on Apple’s innovation and speculate Apple’s stock.
